How I turned my story into a career

October 20, 2020

I was inspired to try and do something about the fact that suicide is the #1 killer of people aged 15-44 and accounts for three times as many deaths in men as it does women.

My world was rocked when a close friend of mine died by suicide last year.

After experiencing that pain, I was inspired to try and do something about the fact that suicide is the #1 killer of people aged 15-44 and accounts for three times as many deaths in men as it does women.

A major factor influencing these shocking statistics is the fact that men are often made to feel isolated and like no one understands them, due to the stigma that men don’t talk about what they’re really going through.

As a 26-year-old journalist and media professional, it made sense to create a platform for young men from all walks of life to share their stories and open up about their struggles.

This is what the ‘Young Blood – Men’s Health Matters’ podcast is all about.

The show is now 40 episodes in and has been running for more than a year.

I see Young Blood as driving positive change for current and future generations of men and the women in their lives through the power of honest conversation. It’s helping men to understand, express and love who they are by promoting vulnerability as a strength and encouraging everyone to own their truth.

You can find ‘Young Blood – Men’s Health Matters’ wherever you get your podcasts.
